It's not only interpretations of four preludes and one fugue from Johann Sebastian Bach's Jazz pianist Brad Mehldau is one of the countless musicians who have since immersed themselves in Bach's work. On his new album After Bach, available now, Mehldau interprets sections of Well-Tempered Clavier, then uses Bach's melodies and cadences as a starting point to explore. Mehldau also collaborated with guitarist Pat Metheny from 2005 – they recorded two albums together that year, along with Grenadier and Ballard, and in 2007 went on a worldwide tour. Another Village Vanguard recording, Brad Mehldau Trio Live, was recorded in 2006 and released two years later.
